the first time i read this short story, i believed it was my fate. that i would live the tragedy of acknowledging and then ignoring and losing semblance altogether - material and memory - of someone so wonderful. this piece is a charming one. of all the birth and death promised by each encounter with the generous eyes of a stranger.
